BRONC CALLAHAN COMMUNITY FUND, INC
This scholarship is in memory of Pete Salwocki, a long-time Harwinton resident and a founding father of the Bronc Callahan Community Fund, Inc. Mr. Salwocki, along with Bronc Callahan, exemplified the spirit of community service and volunteerism.

Criteria:

* The student must be a resident of Harwinton.
* The student will attend an accredited institution of higher education. It is understood that if for any reason the student should not attend, the funds will be returned to the Community Fund so that they can be issued to another applicant.
* The student had been active in community, school, and/or religious functions and has demonstrated the characteristics of good citizenship and volunteerism.
*
the student has demonstrated financial need and can provide FAFSA forms or comparable financial verification. You must provide this information or you will be disqualified.
* The student has demonstrated academic achievement.

The student can provide a letter or letters of recommendation from a non-family member.

G.E.- REAGAN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship acknowledges and rewards America’s foremost young leaders who demonstrate leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship.

 Eligibility:

  • Demonstrate at school, at the workplace, and within the community the attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship

  • Demonstrates strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 GPA)

  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by Scholarship Management Services

  • Be citizens of the United State of America

  • Be high school seniors attending high school in the U.S. or any of the U.S territories and commonwealths, and graduating in the spring 2017.  Applicants living on a U.S Armed Forces base attending high school outside the U.S are eligible. Home-schooled students are also eligible.

  • Plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study toward a bachelor’s degree at an 4-year college or university in the U.S. for the entire 2017-2018 academic year

HIGH SCHOOL COMMON APPLICATION

An in-house Scholarship Committee annually awards a number of unpublished scholarships to LSM graduating seniors. These scholarships are offered by community members and/or community organizations, and the criteria differ per scholarship. These scholarships are distinct and different from any others appearing on the school bulletin boards or on the LSM Counseling website.

 The CT Water Company is offering two scholarships to graduating students who will pursue education in specific environmental-related majors. 

1 - CT Water Works Association Scholarship – Criteria:

  • Applicants will be graduating high school seniors in CT
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are actively pursuing an approved course of study at an accredited higher education institution directly related to environmental science, water resources, public health, or the water industry

 The Nancy H. Whipple Memorial Scholarship has been established in honor Nancy H. BURLINGTON LIONS CHARITIES SCHOLARSHIP FUND

 The Burlington Lions Club is offering 3 scholarships at $1000 each.  The scholarships are offered to graduating BURLINGTON seniors who will attend 2-year or 4-year colleges/technical schools. 

 Of importance: 

  • community service

  • reasonable grades (not necessarily the top of the class)

  • possible special circumstances that contribute to financial need

  • student who may not receive assistance from other services

CT NURSERYMEN’S FOUNDATION, INC., SCHOLARSHIP

 The CT Nurserymen’s Foundation, Inc., will be offering an award ($5000 per year, renewable for up to 4 years).  This scholarship is valued at a total of $20,000 over four years.  Students may attend any school in CT or out-of-state after high school.

 Criteria:

  • Accepted into a course of study beneficial to the Horticulture Industry.  This includes, but is not limited to, Ornamental Horticulture, Landscape Design, Nursery management, or Greenhouse Management.

  • Be a resident of Connecticut

  • Be a high school senior graduating in Spring, 2017

KARL J. SCHWARTZ ROTARY AWARD

 The Bristol Rotary Scholarship Fund, Inc., has a scholarship program available to high school seniors residing in Bristol, BURLINGTON, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington, and Terryville.  The scholarship program was funded by the late Karl J. Schwartz, a former Rotarian and Bristol native.

 The scholarship program may award up to 8 scholarships, $6000 each, to high school seniors who are planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited 4-year college or university for the entire 2017-2018 academic year.

 The scholarships are renewable subject to the renewal conditions outlined in the program.

 In addition to academic and other requirements, Financial Need is a key consideration in awarding the scholarships.

 The Catholic Graduates Club of Greater Hartford is offering three scholarships ($2000 each) for use during the 2017-18 academic year.

  • Be planning to attend a 4-year college (does NOT need to be a Catholic school)

 Two $1000 scholarships will be presented by the CT USBC Association (a bowling organization) to graduating high school seniors.  To be eligible, applicants must be:

 High school seniors whose parent/grandparent is currently a sanctioned member of the State USBC Association OR high school seniors who are sanctioned members themselves

 Entering institutions of higher learning in the summer or fall semester immediately following high school graduation in 2017

 Finalists will be required to participate in an interview with the Scholarship Committee.

Several awards of $1000 are offered by the CT Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).  Any boy or girl who ranks in the upper 25% of the graduating class (rank must be 49 or better) may apply.  Scholarships are offered to students who plan to enter college as a freshman during the fall of 2017.

This scholarship was created to honor the memory of William “Billy” Menard, whose lifelong passion was teaching golf to students and sharing his love for the sport with others.

 U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman, serving 1989-2013, has established the Joe Lieberman Connecticut Scholarship Fund to assist outstanding high school seniors from Connecticut.  Up to five $1,500 renewable scholarships will be granted each year for full-time study at any accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.

LEWIS S. MILLS SCHOLARSHIP FUND

 

The Lewis S. Mills Scholarship Fund, Inc., managed by Region #10 citizens, will award a number of scholarships.  All LSM seniors who will continue their education at 2- or 4-year colleges, vocational schools, or military academies are invited to apply.

Also, any senior who resides in Harwinton and will be studying History or one of the social sciences, there will be 2 scholarships awarded for these fields. One other specific scholarship will be awarded to a student studying forestry or environmental science.
