Practical Math
Practical Math is a life skills math class. The content of this course is intended to satisfy students' IEP goals and credit requirements.

Students learn to work with numbers and calculations that will assist them in daily living activities such as making purchases, counting money and making change, writing checks, balancing accounts, fluidity in using a calculator, reading schedules, navigating calendars, and using measurement.

Students work in small group and complete individualized assignments. Grading is based on total points earned in their math portfolios. Earned points accumulate through classwork, participation, and individualized mid-terms and finals.

The goal of this course is to guide students to think and reason with numbers that can lead to an ease with the language of numbers and applying mathematical imagery to computation and life.
