Jay Pelchar

‚ÄčWelcome to my webpage, where I will share information relating to my math courses as well as links that students and parents can use to keep up with what's happening in our math class.

I am in my 14th year of teaching mathematics here at Lewis Mills after having moved through a variety of schools and titles.  After graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Connecticut, I spent a couple of years in industry before deciding I wanted a change.  Coming from a family of educators (both my parents and sister are current or retired teachers), I decided to enter the world of education.

After obtaining my teaching certification, I started my career at RHAM High School in Hebron where I taught mathematics, computer programming and physics.  Three years later I decided to move closer to home and was hired as a full time physics teacher at Farmington High School.  I spent 5 years teaching and coaching at Farmington before accepting a position as Athletic Director (and PE teacher) at Lewis Mills.  After 4 years as the Athletic Director I decided to come full circle and return to teaching mathematics full time.  I currently teach Geometry, Calculus and Consumer Mathematics and coach the LSM Golf team.

I am eager to help my students succeed in mathematics in any way that I can.  Please contact me at my school email if you have any questions or concerns.

Have a great day!
